Márcio Navalho completed his Degree in Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (FML) in 2000, with a final grade of 17.17 (scale 0-20), one of the highest grades ever in the Faculty.

Between 2003 and 2008 he carried out his specialisation in Imaging and Radiodiagnosis at the Santa Maria University Hospital, having finished with a final grade of 19.30 (scale 0-20).

In 2008, he was in advanced training in his subspecialisation area (Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal System Imaging) abroad, as a Clinical Fellow at UCLA, David Geffen School of Medicine, Los Angeles, USA and also at Hôpital Cochin, Paris, France.

He was dedicated to his PhD Research in Medicine, speciality of Imaging, between 2008 and 2012, by FML and the Institute of Molecular Medicine (Rheumatology Research Unit), in the area of Rheumatological Imaging and under the supervision of Professor Helena Canhão, having completed these advanced studies with the highest grade, Unanimously Approved with Praise and Distinction.

Since 2008 he has developed his medical career as a Radiologist, both in public and private hospitals, namely in leadership positions, being former Coordinator of Imaging in the Lisbon Region, of one of the largest private health groups operating in Portugal.

In 2018 he achieved the Degree of Imaging Consultant by the Portuguese Medical Association, the highest formal degree of medical differentiation in this entity.
